Matt’s Notes
I bid you good evening! And in the spirit of one yearish anniversary for this pod-thingy, we’re looking into a bit of what makes this podcast… and, as per usual, we go off on a few sidetracks!

We’ve come with enough audio to blast that video out of it’s hiding spot… if it came to that! #ednontech
So… part of my process this week was to try and deploy Streamyard for the first time! Here’s hoping it worked! Or at least moreso than we experienced with the recording that we did a couple of weeks ago that was A TAD TOO GLITCHY for use, even with some artful editing… NOTE TO SELF: MUST GET BETTER AT EDITING… or obtain Internet less prone to GLITCHINESS…
ANYWAYS…
Apart from whatever was spoken to in the recording, I’ll just add a bit here…
I’d like to take a moment here to say farewell to my colleague and friend Dr. Kathlyn Bradshaw. I can’t imagine the Ed.D experience without her friendship and support. It was one of those cases of immediate, lightning friendship. We drank some beer. We wrote short stories and gave each other feedback. We collaborated on an aborted science fiction novel. We reviewed each other’s written work throughout the program, and after… and we had at times pretty frequent Skype conversations. We actually managed to present on a panel together about MOOCs in Anaheim, California. I just can’t say enough great things about my friend.
Here is a link to her doctoral thesis: Boundary Crossing and MOOC Design (2017).
She co-wrote with her University of Calgary Supervisors… including in the Canadian Journal of Learning and Technology… she also did practical, teaching-based writing from the college classroom…
AND she wrote an amazing literary novel called The Frankenstein Murders… among many other accomplishments.
ANYWAY… that was the Streamyard experience! Hopefully that will solve the glitching which has plagued the last couple of episodes. And if not… then I’ll try some other techno hocus pocus… I mean uh… streaming solution and/or trying cleverish things with TechSmith Camtasia.
Thanks, as ever, to Doug for putting up with my frequent vacillations and delays when it comes to producing episodes and committing to an actual day and time for a new episode!

Technology and innovative creation: How far we have come
Initially considered as a niche medium for audioblogging, podcasting’s influence has had a profound impact upon society in the digital age.

Many universities are adopting UDL as a framework for course design and content delivery, and audio podcasting, is a strategy well-aligned with the principles of UDL.

Overall, whether introduced to deliver content or assess student learning, podcasting seems to be a beneficial way to engage students in the learning process.
