For God&#8217;s Sake&#8230; I mean, uh&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"367\" src=\"https:\/\/analogue-trope.ca\/podcast\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/8e2a5771c20dadbc1e2865fd35605ec8-1.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-928\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.3623978201634876;width:839px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I think it&#8217;s time to admit that Betty Boop GIF&#8217;s have only been possible in the Twenty-First Century #ednontech<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>Masterclass<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every couple of years I get the thought that maybe I could devote a few months&#8217; creative energy into writing a novel. A few years ago I decided one evening that I would subscribe to Masterclass! <a href=\"https:\/\/www.masterclass.com\/homepage\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.masterclass.com\/homepage\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">And learn from the best!<\/a>&#8230; and inadvertently: A) Neglected to cancel at the end of the Free Trial; B) Neglected to cancel before the subscription was auto-renewed. Twice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fact is, there are lots of great thinkers and creators and worthy TED Talks level people. As to what constitutes a course? It&#8217;s a series of video lectures. While delivery may vary by author, the videos are definitely worth paying for. If you&#8217;re into that. Which I&#8217;m not! But&#8230; uh&#8230; my membership expires on July 25, 2024. Here&#8217;s hoping I find a reason to sit down and watch a fraction of all those no-doubt fascinating videos! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>Citing Canadian government documents: APA style (SFU)<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lib.sfu.ca\/help\/cite-write\/citation-style-guides\/apa\/gov-docs-apa\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.lib.sfu.ca\/help\/cite-write\/citation-style-guides\/apa\/gov-docs-apa\" target=\"_blank\">I&#8217;m grateful this exists!<\/a> Even though I have no immediate use for it. Can I delete it? Yes. But I won&#8217;t! Just in case I need to cite a Canadian government doc&#8230; or to emulate the format thereof&#8230; it&#8217;s going to happen some day! I can feel it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>eCampus Ontario<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Muchly as I sang the praises of Contact North in previous episodes, let me say here that for many years I&#8217;ve had my eyes on the burgeoning repositories of all manner of OER found at and curated by <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/openlibrary.ecampusontario.ca\/?_gl=1%2A1on54w3%2A_ga%2ANzgyNTk3NzU1LjE2OTk3OTQxNTI.%2A_ga_FCMSL2CN7Q%2AMTY5OTc5NDE1Mi4xLjAuMTY5OTc5NDE1Mi42MC4wLjA.\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/openlibrary.ecampusontario.ca\/?_gl=1%2A1on54w3%2A_ga%2ANzgyNTk3NzU1LjE2OTk3OTQxNTI.%2A_ga_FCMSL2CN7Q%2AMTY5OTc5NDE1Mi4xLjAuMTY5OTc5NDE1Mi42MC4wLjA.\" target=\"_blank\">eCampus Ontario<\/a>&#8230; rivalled perhaps only by BCcampus in terms of volume and scale of the enterprise. As certain aspects of my work lately cause me to look at workplace learning OER&#8230; particularly H5P&#8230; I feel like I&#8217;m going to have an increasing amount of use of the many many (many!) H5P, PressBooks, webinars, lesson templates, and so much more&#8230; well done, Onterrible! Most bigly!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>The Ed Techie (Martin Weller)<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Martin, Dr. Weller, has been spoken of muchly both on this show and elsewhere. And rightfully so! His latest book <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aupress.ca\/books\/120309-metaphors-of-ed-tech\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Metaphors of Ed Tech <\/a><\/em>(Athabasca, 2022) is a muchly needed addition to the discourse&#8230; it&#8217;s friendly to the (ed tech) layperson, and is downright enjoyable to read&#8230; which you can&#8217;t always say about academicish works!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Weller is also<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/martin-weller-6b0b932\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> an engaging presence on LinkedIn<\/a>&#8230; including through his <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.edtechie.net\/digital-scholarship\/dont-be-excellent\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ed Techie blog<\/a>&#8230; and other kinds of content. And so&#8230; from my inbox to the WordPress!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>Discogs, Shotmaker, and 90&#8217;s hardcore<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is a topic wherein my punk and alternative music interest blessedly overlaps with my professionalish and academicish interests!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking of curating:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I have spent so many hours and days and weeks in record stores over the course of my life&#8230; to say nothing of going to shows and all that entails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dan and I have very strong opinions about 90&#8217;s hardcore music that we express on the regular at the <a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/show\/2DIm4NvtJ39MOc4FNzGz4U?si=D57_z_GkTPySu0MQg5fNig&amp;nd=1\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/show\/2DIm4NvtJ39MOc4FNzGz4U?si=D57_z_GkTPySu0MQg5fNig&amp;nd=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Today New Brunswick, Tomorrow the World podcast<\/a>. For those who don&#8217;t know, Shotmaker were a band from the Ottawa area who were among the most influential of these groups&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As I write this, I have the recently released 3 LP set <a href=\"https:\/\/shotmaker.bandcamp.com\/album\/a-moment-in-time-1993-1996\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&#8220;1993-1996: A Moment in Time&#8221;<\/a> sitting on deck ready.
