And streamable (?) via yer various pod-whatsits&#8230; sometime in late 2022&#8230; or early 2023&#8230; like&#8230; really probably&#8230;<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"294\" src=\"http:\/\/analogue-trope.ca\/podcast\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/312653943_799035664486618_3670570651890401536_n.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-94\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Y&#8217;all can&#8217;t say we didn&#8217;t warn y&#8217;all&#8230;<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Matt&#8217;s Notes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Matt&#8217;s had a lot going on personally lately, so when Doug sent a Google doc with the notes below&#8230; he was grateful&#8230; for bringing both focus and possibilities to a topic which was&#8230; uh&#8230; <em>vaporous <\/em>prior&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We got some advice from an awesome former TRU colleague about using <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/zencastr.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Zencastr<\/a>&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However&#8230; although Matt&#8217;s internet is now the fastest available for his area&#8230; there are strong limits on his COMPUTING POWER&#8230; so he&#8217;s gonna buy that high-powered desktop&#8230; soonish-like&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So&#8230; Zencastr did not perform optimally&#8230; and so&#8230; we went with Skype again&#8230; but&#8230; possibly due to admin issues for the room&#8230; we failed to capture the last 7-10 minutes of the meeting&#8230; which, in this case is probably OK&#8230; cause we were going a bit long&#8230; Matt accepts full responsibility for this&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Due to the upgrade in Matt&#8217;s internet&#8230; it feels like Skype and YouTube both performed more&#8230; rapidly&#8230; than in the past&#8230; but still&#8230; MORE COMPUTING POWER is needed&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Doug has suggested that we could probably do another episode before this time next week&#8230; and Matt sees no reason not to&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"576\" height=\"861\" src=\"http:\/\/analogue-trope.ca\/podcast\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/311601064_646117293640288_8951073585457743535_n.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-92\" style=\"width:781px;height:1167px\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>The Vapours&#8230; are really real&#8230;<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Resources<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to those included in Doug&#8217;s notes (below), I&#8217;ve found these interesting and\/or helpful over the past couple of weeks&#8230; and\/or have mentioned them in the recording&#8230; or elsewhere&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Weller, M. Ascribed primarily to women and thought to be caused by internal emanations (vapours) from the womb, it was related to the concept of female hysteria. The word &#8220;vapours&#8221; was subsequently used to describe a depressed or hysterical nervous condition.<\/p>\n<cite><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Vapours_(mental_condition)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Wikipedia<\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Audrey Watters (2012), EdTech is a term that encompasses \u201c\u2026research, reading, writing, collaboration, communication, creation, logic, standardization, compliance, hardware, software, money, policy, privacy, accountability, practice, theory.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>*Hollands, F. M., &amp; Escueta, M. (2017). EdTech Decision-Making in Higher Education. Online Submission.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hey, y&#8217;all &#8211; &#8220;edtech&#8221; isn&#8217;t a thing. It&#8217;s not. It&#8217;s poor shorthand for a lot of other things. Say those other things instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2014 Bud Hunt (@budtheteacher) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/budtheteacher\/status\/202938231703093248\">May 17, 2012<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>We have a naming issue.<\/em><\/p>\n<cite>Dr. Doug Reid <\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instructional Technology Coaches (edtech coaches) is the new phrase being used in K-12 to differentiate from IT support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cEdtech coaches provided significant support to their school\/district administrators in planning and ensuring learning continuity during school closures\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Helped individual teachers as needed outside school hours.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Helped individual teachers as needed during school hours.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Facilitated departmental\/grade-level\/ school-wide training &amp; PD.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provided needed information and resources (e.g., via a newsletter).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provided deep coaching.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Additionally these roles can be expect to be responsible for the following technical and\/or pedagogical tasks and\/or accountabilities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Access or better use video conferencing tools<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use an LMS<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use appropriate technology tools and strategies for the purpose of asynchronous online lessons<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select appropriate tools across different operating systems and devices<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use appropriate technology tools and strategies to teach specific areas of curriculum<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use appropriate technology tools and strategies for the purpose of synchronous online lessons<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use appropriate tools and strategies for the purpose of providing relevant feedback in a virtual environment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use technology to continue to support students (for non-teaching staff)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop equitable lessons<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide social-emotional support to students<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Bakhshaei, M., Seylar, J., Ruiz, P., &amp; Vang, M. Digital Promise.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cEvery day, we are inundated with stories of how market-facing digital technologies applied to education\u2014what we call \u201cEdTech\u201d\u2014must be at the forefront of a social change that is both inexorable and promising.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNonetheless, EdTech is frequently a congealed form of the flawed idea that education plus new technology is the primary and best solution to social problems.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c&#8230; education\u2019s public stature, principles and values may be eroded by the EdTech industry\u2019s march forward.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Mirrlees, T., &amp; Alvi, S. Routledge.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe 2017 edition of CNN\u2019s Best Jobs in America has at least four instructional design-related jobs in its top 100 list:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>E-Learning Specialist ranks 29th;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>IT Training Specialist ranks 35th;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Education Program Manager ranks 68th; and&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Training &amp; Development Specialist ranks 71st. \u201c<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAll sectors examined, namely, corporate, higher education, and K-12 continue to devote significant resources to instructional technology, and job prospects for instructional designers, training and development specialists, and eLearning practitioners remain positive.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Brown, A., &amp; Green, T.
