As ever, Doug and I are grateful that you&#8217;ve chosen to spend some time here&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Ed non-Tech (EnT) podcast Episode 11: Sunken Treasure\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/hagI1jI6-K8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">And then he was like&#8230; and then she was like&#8230; #noreally #ednontech<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"http:\/\/analogue-trope.ca\/podcast\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Episode-11-audio.mp3\"><\/audio><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Audio consumption may produce sensations such as observing fewer earbuds, headphones, sweaters, and scarves&#8230;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So&#8230; in terms of the tabs I was referring to during the recording&#8230; please find a bit of a sampler herein&#8230; trusting that each link is the result of rabbithole upon rabbithole&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Athabasca&#8217;s <em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irrodl.org\/index.php\/irrodl\" target=\"_blank\">International Review of Research in Open and Distributed Learning (IRRODL)<\/a><\/em> always has great stuff&#8230; this is something where&#8230; the title of the piece seemed compelling&#8230; <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irrodl.org\/index.php\/irrodl\/article\/view\/6494\/5784\" target=\"_blank\">Book Review: An Introduction to Open Education<\/a>&#8230; and even as <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.uvic.ca\/education\/curriculum\/faculty-staff\/faculty\/about\/experts\/profiles\/paskevicius-michael.php\" target=\"_blank\">Michael Paskevicius, University of Victoria,<\/a> writes a really interesting, compelling review of this book&#8230; Dr. Paskevicius provides <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/edtechbooks.org\/open_education\" target=\"_blank\">a link to the book<\/a>&#8230; i.e., free to read&#8230; through <a href=\"https:\/\/edtechbooks.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Edtechbooks.org<\/a>&#8230; which I&#8217;m encountering just for the first time&#8230; it seems, at first glance, like a pretty well-stocked repository&#8230; with resources for K-12 and post-secondary educators&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Matt IRL: Great! This means I can close these tabs&#8230; and come back to this convenient EDUCATIONAL post if so desiring or requiring in the future&#8230;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Also&#8230; I was meant to speak to this essay in a <em>Hybrid Pedagogy<\/em> publication during my final weeks at TRU&#8230; it failed to transpire&#8230; so&#8230; in the interest of &#8220;tidying up&#8221; at the end of what has truly been a transformative year&#8230; for me, anyway&#8230; the essay is called &#8220;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/hybridpedagogy.org\/confessions-subversive-student\/\" target=\"_blank\">Confessions of a Subversive Student<\/a>&#8220;. And it&#8217;s very interesting and well-written. And there is nothing in the essay which remotely qualifies as subversive. Am I missing something? But to ask that question sounds like a grievance, right? I have no grievance against this. It&#8217;s worth checking out! As is <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/hybridpedagogy.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">just about anything el<\/a><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/hybridpedagogy.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">s<\/a><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/hybridpedagogy.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">e<\/a> those folks put out&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestar.com\/opinion\/contributors\/2022\/12\/02\/tinder-fatigue-the-endless-netflix-scroll-and-the-real-reason-online-life-is-exhausting.html?source=newsletter&amp;utm_content=a14&amp;utm_source=ts_nl&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_email=37B0AA8BCA0F00EA5A71F12832F20F1F&amp;utm_campaign=lng_158085\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">this great longish read<\/a> in a recent Saturday edition of the Toronto Star by <a href=\"https:\/\/andylamey.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Andy Lamey<\/a>&#8230; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tinder fatigue, the endless Netflix scroll, and the real reason online life is exhausting<\/h2>\n<cite>Andy Lamey on behalf of all of us&#8230;<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Which led to a new-to-me<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.poetryfoundation.org\/poets\/jason-guriel\" target=\"_blank\"> Canadian poet named Jason Guriel<\/a> who I feel is probably pretty good&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Is anyone still there? Regarding EdTech specifically, the overwhelming consensus is that technology is a tool which can be used to support, facilitate and enable good teaching and quality learning (Dahya, 2016).\u200b However, technology is only one of many inputs needed to lead to sustained improvements in learning outcomes.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This brief explores how EdTech, and education programmes more widely, can be leveraged to support distance and alternative learning opportunities that are urgently needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Koomar, S., Moss Coflan, C., &amp; Kaye, T.
