He plays for Samiam, including on last year&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.purenoise.net\/artists\/samiam\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">brilliant LP Stowaway,<\/a> along with The Big Cats (Little Rock, AR), and countless musicians and bands and acts&#8230; punk and otherwise&#8230; spanning multiple decades! Or people in the &#8220;music industry&#8221;!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My feeling with this show is&#8230; punk in approach, professional\/academic in execution! And so Instagram is&#8230; for me&#8230; like the parking lot outside the venue at a fucking rad all ages show! If you&#8217;re in the parking lot getting high or smoking or drinking or being straight-edge or whatever&#8230; you&#8217;re fair game! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And so, much respect to Colin for being a talented, prolific artist&#8230; but also just for being a straight-up awesome dude&#8230; in the true punk rock spirit! Your genuine kindness and clear passion for everything you do is an inspiration, pal! But it&#8217;s one hell of a story&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Little Rock&#8217;s punk scene in the 80&#8217;s and 90&#8217;s was so rad, they made a documentary about it! And an accompanying soundtrack! I&#8217;ve spent entire days listening to Crystalized on repeat! And the video is actually super-cool&#8230; a rare thing for any music video, in my opinion! Colin&#8217;s playing is a major part of why Stowaway sounds so rad&#8230; contemporary and forward-looking, somehow! It&#8217;s a pretty awesome thing!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Colin&#8217;s been living in NYC since the late 90&#8217;s&#8230; and he makes music outside of Samiam as TheNewSame&#8230; so you 100% need to check <a href=\"https:\/\/colinbrooks.bandcamp.com\/album\/opposition\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">his Bandcamp<\/a>&#8230; and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/thenewsame\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TheNewSame&#8217;s Instagram<\/a>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Probably my biggest takeaway from the chat was how much friendship factors into what Colin is up to! In the dozens of bands and acts he&#8217;s been involved in a decades-long career in music, creative potential and hanging with pals figure highly as motivators.
